Abstract

In order to improve food security, it is necessary to create simple technology to optimize the productivity of lebak swamp that has not been utilized as agricultural land. Alternative simple technology that can be applied when the swamps watersurface rise is the cultivation of organic short-lived vegetables with floating agricultural systems. This research aims to study aboutthe effects of compost and vermicompost to availability of soil and plant fosfor, pH, and production of red spinach on floating agricultural systems. This research was conducted from September 2019 to December 2019 atSoil Department pond and chemical analysis was conducted in Laboratory of Biology, Chemistry an Soil Fertility, Soil Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research used Randomized Complete Block Design factorial. The first factor was compost consists of 4 levels and the second factor was vermicompost consists of 3 levels. Each treatment was repeated three times, so there were 36 experimental units. The data obtained was analyzed using Anova and followed by LSD. The results showed that the addition of compost and vermicompost significantly affected the wet weight and dry weight of red spinach and the interaction of compost and vermicompost had a significant effect on increasing soil-P but did not show significantly on soil pH and Plant-P. This study also showed that the application of 100 g/kgcompost and 100 g/kgvermicompost gave the best results on all parameters. Base on these results, it is suggest to do research for other plants by reusing the planting media in this study, because the pH and nutrient content are still quite good at harvest time.
