Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for stroke that can cause rupture or narrowing of the blood vessels of the brain. Hypertension control is the main key to prevent complications in stroke. Nursing actions that can be given to stroke patients to reduce blood pressure include pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Non-pharmacological therapy that can be used is slow deep breathing therapy. Slow deep breathing therapy is easy and effective in reducing blood pressure of hypertension sufferers. The writing of this scientific paper aims to apply nursing care comprehensively to non-hemorrhagic stroke patients accompanied by hypertension with evidence-based slow deep breathing therapy. The research method uses qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. The description of the three patients included anamnese and physical examination showed that the main complaint was experiencing weakness on one side of the body accompanied by hypertension. Nursing problems found include impaired physical mobility, impaired verbal communication, anxiety, risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion, and risk of impaired skin integrity. The nursing plan provided was in the form of mobilization support, anxiety reduction, communication promotion: speech deficit, ICT improvement management, bed rest treatment and skin integrity. The final results of the implementation of the three patients managed, three problems can be completely resolved and two problems partially resolved. All three cases of management experienced complaints of weakness on one side of the body accompanied by hypertension. The nursing plan undertaken to overcome this is by providing slow deep breathing therapy for 4 days. The application of the implications is inseparable from obstacles such as the patient's weak condition and facial nerve disorders, so the patient's desire to return to health and support from the patient's family makes the implications can have an effect on the nervous system and affect blood pressure regulation. Of the three patients managed by nursing provided care consisting of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing. The implications of slow deep breathing therapy show the results can reduce blood pressure in the three patients under management.
