Abstract

PT. Freeport Indonesiasissascompanysengaged in copper and gold mining in Indonesia. Mine method which is applied are open pit and underground mining methods. The mining method used in the DMLZ mine is block caving with an exhaust ventilation system. The problem that occurs in DMLZ ventilation is the unfavorable distribution of air quantity which results in unmet air demand for the entire DMLZ mine area.sThespurposesofsthissstudysissto optimize the design factors of the DMLZ underground mine air flow quantity criteria. Research is done by taking primary and secondary data that affect the design criteria for the next air quantity that is simulated with Ventsim software. Basedson the resultssof the study it can be concluded the DMLZ mine air requirement is 1238.8 m3 / s. Leakage factors are 1.12, 1.17, and 1.28 and balancing factors are 1.27, 1.33, and 1.19. Efforts that can be made to optimize the design of airflow quantity budget is to improve the ventilation control leak to the ideal state and adjust the regulator openings according to or close to the budget design so that the airflow in parallel ventilation control is in accordance with the airflow quantity budget design.
