Abstract

The aims of research were to determine the growth response and yield of mustard (Brassica juncea L) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa) on biofortification of Iron (Fe) with floating raft hydroponics. This research was conducted from June 2019 to November 2019 at the hydroponic house, Agronomy Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a completely randomized design using 5 treatments and 4 replications. There were total of 20 experimental units, each unit consisting of 4 plants. The iron concentration factor (Fe) tested in this study consisted of five levels, namely P1 (0 ppm), P2 (10 ppm), P3 (15 ppm), P4 (20 ppm), P5 (25 ppm). The parameters being observed in this study include plant height, number of leaves, level of greenness of leaves, fresh weight of plants, dry weight of plants and iron concentration in plants. The results showed that there was an increase of Fe nutrient content in mustard greens and lettuce along with the addition of Fe concentrations in hydroponic solutions. The addition of iron (Fe) concentration did not inhibit the growth and yield of mustard greens and lettuce in the P2 (10 ppm) treatment.
