Abstract

PUBLIC NUTRITION PUBLIC HEALTH FACULTY SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY Skripsi, Juli 2019 Bizik Rilah Mutohharoh The Effect of Nutritional Counseling on Low Glucose Wasted Food in Inpatient Diabetes Mellitus Patients at Siti Khodijah Hospital Palembang ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease that increase the number of sufferers every year, especially in developing countries. In some developed countries, Diabetes Mellitus is the main cause of death. For people with diabetes mellitus it is very important to increase knowledge about the type, schedule and amount of food that will be consumed to keep blood normal inside the body. Nutritional information that is less will affect the patient's food consumption. Nutrition counseling is expected to lead to patient awareness of food intake. The benefits of counseling can help the healing process of the disease and there is no food left over. This study aims to determine the effect of providing nutritional counseling on low glucose food residues in patients with diabetes mellitus at Siti Khodijah Hospital in Palembang. This study used a cross sectional approach where the researcher gives questionnaires to patients to find out the effectiveness of nutritional counseling, appetite, appearance of food, taste of food, and menu variations as many as 54 samples. The remaining food is obtained by weighing every meal using the comestock method. The results of this study indicate that there is no correlation between nutritional counseling on leftovers with a p-value greater than <0,05 and the variabels related to food residue are appetite with the p-value obtained at 0,031 smaller than p-value (0,05).
