Abstract

The aims of study wasdetermine the effect of the number of blades, the number of disk rotation and moisture content of material on the performance of a Pin-Mill type grinder on chili grinding. It was conducted by uing factorial Randomized Block Design with three treatment factors and three replication as follows. The first factors were P1 (number of three blades), P2 (number of four blades) and the secound factor were V1 (number of rotations of 1500 rpm), V2 (number of rotations of 1700 rpm) and the third factor were W1 (moisture content of material 8 %), W2 (moisture content of material 10 %), W3 (moisture content of material 12 %). Parameters observed that the working capacity of grinding tools, the grinding efficiency, precentage of fineness, and fuel needs. The results showed that the number of blades, the number of disks rotating, and moisture content of material material affect the working capacity of the grinding tool, grinding efficiency, precentage of fineness, and fuel requirements. P2V2W1 treatment (number of four blades, number of disk rotation 1700 rpm, and moisture content of material 8 %) was the best treatment compared to other treatments with a working capacity of milling machine that was 1.104 kg/hour chili powder, grinding efficiency was 73.5%, and the need for gasoline fuel was 0.478 liters/hour.
