Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the main problems in women’s health in the world, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Research on cervical cancer in Indonesia was more focused on predisposing factors, while rersearch on survival of cervical cancer patients was limited. The purpose of study was to analyze the survival of cervical cancer patients and the factors that influence it in Central General Hospital of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang as a referral hospital in Southern Sumatra. This research used a survival analysis study with a retrospective cohort design, by collecting data from 274 medical records of patients with cervical cancer for the period Januari 2014 to December 2016. The Kaplan Meier methods were used to evaluate survival while Cox Regression models were used to determine risk factors for death due to cervical cancer. There were 52 cases as events (18,98%) with a survival rate of 65% for 3 years of obeservation. Multivariate analysis confirmed completeness of treatment (HR 7,239; CI 95% : 3,822-13,714), metastasis (HR 2,430; CI 95% : 1,280-4,612), and age (HR 0,518; 95% CI : 0,296-0,908) were prognostic factors for the survival of cervical cancer, complication as a confounding factor in relationship between metastasis and cervical cancer patient’s survival. It is very important for cervical cancer patients to follow the treatment program from the doctor to the end, so that the development of cervical cancer can be controlled and optimal survival achieved.
