Abstract

The oil palm is one of the most cultivated plants in Indonesia. The development of the palm oil industry led to increased construction of palm oil mills. The oil palm mill produces solid decanter as a byproduct which is an organic solid waste. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between some soil chemical properties with leaf nutrient content in oil palm with and without decanter solid application and to knowing the comparison of the chemical properties in the soil with and without a decanter solid application. The research was conducted in the oil palm plantation land of PT. Aek Tarum Sampoerna Agro Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. Laboratory analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of PT. Bina Sawit Makmur. This research was conducted from September 2019 - March 2020. This research used random sampling method on the block which was applied and not applied decanter solid. In each block 10 plots were taken with each plot having 6 soil sample and 9 plant tissue samples (leaf & rachis). The variables observed in this study were soil pH, C-Organic (g kg-1), N-Total (g kg-1), available P (mg kg-1), Kdd (cmol kg-1), CEC (cmol kg-1), soil moisture (%), P2O5 total (mg kg-1), K2O total (cmol kg-1), leaf N content (%), leaf P content (%), leaf K content (%) and rachis Mg content (%). The data obtained were processed statistically by using multiple correlation analysis to determine the closeness of the relationship between the variable x with the variable y. The results showed that the chemical properties of the soil have a close relationship with the nutrient content of oil palm plant in the soil applied and not applied decanter solid, but have a different level of effective depth in the applied soil that is 20-40 cm and 40-60 cm while the not applied namely 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. At each depth it has closely correlated soil chemical properties namely C-Organic and N-Total in both applied and not applied decanter solid soils. In soils that are applied with not applied decanter solid, there are differences in some of the chemical properties of the soil, namely soil pH, C-Organic, N-Total and P2O5 total. The soil nutrient content with nutrient content in oil palm were observed to have a weak level of association in the plants that were applied and not applied decanter solid.
