Abstract

The image of Palembang as a water city has undergone a shift in the present. The large water area in Palembang is underutilized by the surrounding community due to lack of education. Therefore, there is a need for facilities that can accommodate activities to educate the public about water. "Aquatic Park" is a solution so that people's knowledge of water can increase. Aquatic Park is a Science and Technology Demonstration Center that focuses on educative and recreational water fields. The planning and design of the Aquatic Park is located on the banks of the Musi River, precisely in the Kertapati area, Palembang. The issue of design is how to design a demonstration center that can accommodate the functions and activities of the experience and be in harmony with the ecological architecture approach. The concept of the composition of the period used is curved and dynamic to produce the concept of circulation that flows and follows the shape of the building, with the aim that visitors can enjoy all the facilities and activities in the aquatic park in order. There is a pond in the middle of the building that aims to reduce the temperature around it. The utilization of lighting and natural ventilation is applied by flowing air and light brought in from the pool area. Besides, the application of ecological architecture can also be seen from the selection of non-threatening environmental materials, such as natural stone, wood, and concrete.
