Abstract

One of the target of SDGs in 2030 was to reduce maternal mortality to 70 per 100,000 live births while maternal mortality rate in Indonesia reached 305 per 100,000 live births. One of the causes of maternal death in Indonesia is postnatal complication that occurs at the first week after childbirth that can be prevent with postnatal care service. The purpose of this study is to analyse the determinant of postnatal care service utilization in Indonesia. This study was a quantitative with design study of cross-sectional. This study using secondary data from Indonesian health and demographics Survey 2017. Sample of this study amount 14,724 women who was 15-49 years selected according to criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Data was analyzed using regression logistic statistic. The results of this study showed respondents who utilized postnatal care service were 74.8%. The results of bivariate analysis showed that higher and middle education (P-value < 0.001), Working (P-value 0.043), economic status (P-value of < 0.001), Region of Java/Bali and Sumatera (p-value 0.001), delivery assistant by health worker (P-value 0.011), Cesarean delivery (P-value of < 0.001) and ANC complete during pregnancy (P-Value <0,001) have a significant association with postnatal care service utilization. Java/Bali Region is the most dominant factor associated with postnatal care services utilization in Indonesia (P-value < 0.001; PR of 1.967 (95% CI: 1,727-2,241) after controlled by other factor. Region is the most important factor of postanatal care service utilization. Equitable distribution of health facility and health worker throughout Indonesia can be one of the efforts to improve postnatal care service utilization in Indonesia.
