Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that aims to find out the mathematical thinking process of modeling aspects of class X students on the quadratic function material through the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach. The subjects of this study were 33 students of Class X Science 8 SMA Negeri Palembang, who were 33 students. The learning process is carried out in accordance with the stages of the Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach. Data collected using three test items and interviews. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive. Based on the results obtained using learning using the Eliciting Activites Model learning approach (MEAs) on the quadratic function material shows that in solving problems many students do the concretization process. Students have been able to simplify the problem, but in the process of objectification, mathematical sense-making, and estimation of results students need to be trained again in changing a mathematical object, solving problems and accustoming students to re-checking answers.
