Abstract

PT. XYZ and the University of Sriwijaya in particular majoring in Mechanical Engineering have collaborated in developing a Risk Based Inspection software application based on API RP 581 called risk Assessment for Approach of Latest Equipment Conditions (RAFAOLEC). This research was conducted to evaluate the calculation features for heat exchanger equipment in software, this research was in the form of software testing and comparative analysis of the results of calculations on software with the results of manual calculations for each function and feature in it. The results of comparative calculations can show that the results of software calculations and manual calculations have several different results, the difference is found in the COF calculation on the Cost Bundle Replacement calculation feature which also causes differences in the calculation results in the calculation of Inspection Planning, and the Inspection / Replacement Cost Bundle . In the RAFAOLEC software, the reference from C1 (Conversion Factor) in the Cost Bundle Replacement calculation formula using the reference to API RP 581 Part 3 Annex 3.C SI and US Customary Units i.e. C1 for SI units is 31,623 〖mm〗^2/m^2 and for the US unit is 12 inch/ft. However, the manual calculation based on the assumption on API RP 581, i.e. C1 for SI units is 3.016 m^3 and for the US unit is 106.5 〖ft〗^3. Then the software is updated by improving the coding formula in the calculation of Cost Bundle Replacement C1 adjusted to that used in manual calculations. In addition to improving the coding formula in the software, there are also some other things that need to be improved, such as improving the information on the use of units (units) in the software. Improvement of information is one of the important things so there is no mistake in inputting values for calculations in software.
