Abstract

This study aims to present forms of social criticism of social problems found in the community. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were sourced from the play script Zetan by Putu Wijaya. In analyzing the data used social problem theory. The steps are as follows: (1) Identifying data about the form of social criticism (2) Grouping data (3) Conducting data analysis, and (4) Summarizing the results of the analysis. Based on the results of the study there were 61 data of social criticism including 1 data of social criticism of the problem of poverty, 20 data of social criticism of crime, 1 data of social criticism of the problem of family disorganization, 8 data of social criticism of the problem of the younger generation and modern society, 2 data of social criticism of the issue of warfare, 6 data of social criticism of the problem of violations of community norms, 5 of data of social criticism of environmental problems, and 18 data of social criticism of the bureaucracy. The results of this study can be used in learning Indonesian at the junior high school level in class IX of the 2013 curriculum, namely at the basic competency 4.15 Interpreting drama (traditional and modern) that is read and watched / heard.
