Abstract

The purpose of this research was to make and test the sortation equipment for duku fruit based on uniform size of the fruit. The research was carried out at the Agricultural Workshop, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in November 2019 until April 2020. This study used experimental method by presenting the results using descriptive data in the form of tables and graphs. This research consisted of three classifications of duku fruit sizes. Each test was repeated five times. The observed parameters were sortation yield uniformity, sortation yield performance and equipment working capacity. This equipment was capable to sort duku fruits in accordance to their grades. Average values of sortation yield uniformity which were perfectly sorted for grade A, grade B and grade C were 91.11%, 95.79% and 100%, whereas the mix sorted for grade A, grade B and grade C were 8.87%, 4.2% and 0%, respectively. Percentage of fruits which flow through the holes were 7.96%, 29.91% and 100% for grade A, grade B and grade C, respectively. Percentage of fruits which remains in the holes were 82.0%, 70.09%, and 0% for grade A, grade B and grade C, respectively. Average performance percentage of sortation process was 28.51%. Percentage of fruits which remain on shelves was 36.63%, 31.92% and 0% for grade A, grade B and grade C, respectively. The equipment capacity was 105 kg/h.
