Abstract

This study aims to reduce the number of front tracture and determine the optimum dose of silica and boron in increasing the growth and yield of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). The tree of simples were variety of marihat aged 15 years. This research was conducted in the oil palm research and the analysis for poraneters on were the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra from April 2019 to September 2019. The method used in this study was a randomized block design (RBD) with factorially arranged, were two factors, namely the nutrient of silica and boron. Five levels of silica were five level and three levels of boron, thus there were 15 treatment combinations. Each treatment were replicated three times. Total sample samples were 45 plants. Silica soluted in water as bepore used on field the factors studied were silica (S) consisting of 5 levels, namely: S0 = 0 g silica / 10 L of water; S1 = 20 g silica / 10 L of water; S2 = 40 g silica / 10 L water; S3 = 60 g silica / 10 L of water; S4 = 80g silica / 10 L of water. The dose of boron (B) consists of 3 levels, namely: B0 = 0 g / plant; B1 = 50 g / plant; B2 = 100 g / plant. Boron fertilizer was given as circle, and silica fertilizer by watering according to dosage is given every two months. The results showed that the silica significantly affected the soil water content and the number of spear leaves. Aplication silica and boron can reduce the number of oil palm front tracture on dry land. Silica dose of 40 g / plant and boron about 100 g / plant can increase the formation of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) in dry land.
