Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the interior quality of Silver Arabic chicken (Silver Brakel Kriel) eggs with Chitosan Treatment in Ration During 14 Day Storage. This was held on 7 week in experimental housing of animal science study program and laboratory of animal feed and nutrition, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The sample used was 60 Silver Arabic chicken at 4,5 month old. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 5 replications: P0 (control), R1 (ration + chitosan 0,5%), R2 (ration + chitosan 1%), R3 (ration+ chitosan 1,5%), R4 (ration +chitosan 2%), R5 (ration + chitosan 2,5%), the resulting data were analyzed using variance (ANOVA) and if showed a real difference it would be followed by Duncan’s test. The observed variables were shrinkage weight, pH, albumin index, haugh unit, air cell in Silver Arabic chicken egg. The results showed that the use of chitosan in ration had significant effect on shrinkage weight and albumin index, had’nt significantly effect on pH, haugh unit, air cell. In conclusion, the effect of chitosan in ration is able to maintain the interior quality of shrinkage weight and albumin index, but had’nt been able to maintain pH, haugh unit, air cell.
