Abstract

The most well-known sprayer amid lower class farmers is knapsack sprayers. The performance of knapsack sprayer is not impeccable, its capacity tends to be low due to its manual system usage. According to this case, the modification of manual sprayer to electrical pump is necessary. This research aims to modify the simple knapsack sprayer to automatically doubled-nozzle. This research took place in January to April 2020 at Agricultural Workshop, Agricultural Technology Department, Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University. This research used descriptive method, data presented in tables. Research and design process of this tool had several steps included data collection, design, tools manufacturing, test, and data analysis. Parameters observed were power requirements test, wide-spread area of nozzle, spraying time, and tool capacity. The results showed that DC pump used was way more stability of the pressure than diaphragm pump. The power required by the sprayer while operating was 26.40 watt at range 15 x 8 meters. Spraying time to field test with range 15 x 8 meters was 8.57 minutes with electrical pump and was 12.44 minutes with manual pump with 4.5 liters of volume. Effective field capacity on single nozzle-sprayer was 0.223 ha/hour and doubled-nozzle was 0.342 ha/hour. Keywords: dc pump, sprayer, knapsack
