Abstract

MUHAMAD YASAR. Prototype of Automatic Valve Watergate Made from Acrylic in Swampland. (Supervised by Puspitahati and Tri Tunggal). The purpose of this research is to design a watergate that can regulate the entry and exit of water from the land automatically by utilizing of the difference water levels inside and outside of watergate. This study was conducted from August 2017 to December 2019 at Martapura, East Oku District, South Sumatera Province. The research was done by using field study and experimental method. The data obtained were calculated and analyzed by linear regression. The observed parameters were time, door opening width, and height of incoming water. The conclusion of this study was that the greater weight and slope of the watergate, the height of the incoming water will be lower. The door that have a good performance to changes in pump discharge increase was the door that have a slope angle of 10o and door’s weight of 500 g. On angle of 10o and the weight of the watergate was 500 g, the watergate started to open at 6,21 to 11,31 minutes with the water level inside the door around 19,3 cm to 22,5 cm and the width of door opening was about 2,1 cm to 2,7 cm, and the difference average of water height towards inside and outside of the door was about 2,3 cm. Based on the research that has been done, it was advised to determine the right scale between the real discharge in the river and the real scale in experiment so that it will be easy to scale up the watergate on the swamp land. Then, need to pay attention and ensure that no impurities in the pipes which can clog up so that can impede flow of water.
