Abstract

The pre-experimental research with the One Shoot Case Study design, entitled The Effect of Flashcard Media on Letter Ability in Children Group A Kindergarten IT Izzudin Palembang, has the aim to find the effect of flashcard media on the ability to recognize letters in children. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with consideration of the ability to recognize letters that are still low in class A1. A winning sample of 20 children. The treatment was 3 times and each was posttested. Posttest uses a measuring instrument consisting of Oral collected in the form of a test score and converted into a score consisting of 3 indicators. The value of each posttest is summed divided by 3 obtained an average value of 77.7. As data hypothesized, there is data at intervals below the BSH category value of 62.5. From the results of data analysis obtained t_count = 3.94 ≥ t_ value (table) = 1.72 with α = 0.05 and dk = 19. This can be seen from each meeting 2 of the 3 dominant indicators that appear namely, mentioning the letters that are known, and Mimic (Pronounce a-z). While one indicator that is lacking is the conversion of Letter a-z. It is expected that in learning more letters will be drilled. This study uses the ability to recognize letters using flashcard media, the flashcard used consists of images consisting of images of animals, plants and tools that are around the child. Makes children easier to recognize letters by using objects that are often seen in the life around them. Key words: Flashcard Media, Letter Recognition Ability, Early Childhood
