Abstract

The purpose of this research were to : 1) Identify the factors causing rubber farmers to convert farming into oil palm farmers in Mabat Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency, and 2) Analyze disparity of farmers' income before and after converting from rubber farmin g to oil palm farming in Mabat Village, Bakam District Bangka This research was conducted in Mabat Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency. The researsh method was survey method. The sampling method used in this study was simple random stratified with a sample of 40 farmers who converted rubber into oil palm farming. The results of this study used multiple linear regression showed that the factors that have a significant influence on the decision of farmers to convert rubber into oil palm farming are the age of the farmer, farmers' education, the number of household members, and farm income. While the factors that were not significantly affected were farming experience and the distance between the house to the land. The farmers who did the conversion from rubber to oil palm farming obtained thier income increase significantly with the difference in average income of Rp10.853.868,00 hectares per year with significant value of 2 pair sample t-test 0,000 which means accept HA.
