Abstract

Research has been carried out to describe the implementation of the Integrated Science learning process for Children with Special Needs (ABK) with hearing impairments (deaf) and the difficulties faced by teachers during the implementation of the learning process at SMPLB-B Kaya Ibu Palembang. The research method used is a descriptive research method, with data collection techniques using interviews, observations and documentation that are analyzed and presented descriptively. The subject of this research is the implementation of the learning process that focuses on the activities of teachers and students, curriculum, learning methods, learning media and difficulties faced by teachers during learning. The results of this study indicate that the curriculum at SMPLB-B Karya Ibu Palembang is different from the curriculum in public schools, the implementation of academic learning is thematic and the time allocation is only 30% of the total learning, 70% of the learning time is allocated to skills learning. During the implementation of learning the teacher has difficulty in choosing methods and learning media that are in accordance with the characteristics of students, even though the use of learning media plays a very important role, especially in science material. In addition, the condition of students who are not homogeneous makes it difficult for teachers to explain abstract material.
