Abstract

Antioxidant is a compound that is able to inhibit free radicals that can cause disease in the body and can be isolated from plants. Mistlotoe contain flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids and alkaloids. Scurrula ferruginea (Jack) dan Dans with cacao hosts (Theobroma cacao) are assumed to have antioxidant compounds. This study purpose to determine the antioxidant activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol fractions from the Scurrula ferruginea mistletoe leaves, to determine the pure compound group that has antioxidant and to determine the IC50 values of the pure antioxidant compounds. The research method begins with sample preparation, extraction, liquid fractination method, isolation of compounds by vacuum liquid chromatography and column chromatography and antioxidant activity tests using the DPPH method. This study shows that the ethyl acetate fraction has strong activity and is followed by the n-hexane fraction, while the methanol fraction has weak activity. The active antioxidant isolates in the n-hexane fraction are H1 and H2.1 isolates with terpenoid compounds. Whereas in the ethyl acetate fraction produces one active isolate, E1.1. with a class of flavonoid compounds. The results of determining antioxidant activity by DPPH method showed IC50 values on compounds H1, H2.1 and E1.1. respectively 127.46; 129.28 and 92.3 ppm. H1 and H2.1 compounds. has moderate antioxidant activity and compound E1.1 has strong antioxidant activity.
