Abstract

Research has been carried out on the adsorption of procion red, kongo red and malachite green dyes using rambutan peel bioadsorbent. The purpose of this study was to characterize the bioadsorbent of rambutan peel using the adsorption method. The results characterization of FT-IR, XRD, SEM-EDS, BET and TG-DTA showed is the presence of specific cellulose compounds in rambutan peel, rambutan peel are amorphous, there are pores that are bumpy and uneven in the peel morphology of rambutan while the results of the EDS analysis of carbon elements have the highest value of 74.3%, that the surface area of rambutan peel was 1.22 cm/g and for the results of TG-DTA characterization showed that the bioadsorbent of rambutan peel had an endothermic peak at a temperature of 100 ̊C a decomposition at 430 ̊C and a complete oxidation process at temperatures 500 ̊C The process adsorption of procion red, congo red and malachite green dyes using rambutan peel was carried out under a variety of conditions, pH, time, temperature and concentration as well as desorption and regeneration processes. The kinetic data of adsorption using the pseudo second order model is more suitable to explain the process adsorption of procion red, congo red and malachite green dyes. The adsorption of procion red dye is more suitable for use the Langmuir equation, whereas the adsorption of the congo red and malachite green dyes the Freundlich equation is more appropriate than the Langmuir equation. Adsorption of procion red, congo red and malachite green dyes using rambutan peel results in endothermic reaction with insignificant entropy changes and spontaneous reactions. The results of desorption of procion red, congo red and green malachite dyes showed that the highest percentage of desorbed was NaOH solvent and the results of regeneration of procion red, red congo and green malachite dyes using rambutan peel bioadsorbents experienced a significant decrease. Keywords: Bioadsorben, rambutan peel (Nephelium lapaceum L), procion red, congo red, malachite green.
