Abstract

Musi Banyuasin Regency is the largest area but this district has the most non-productive plant in south Sumatera. Therefore the government of Musi Banyuasin Regency Replanted oil palm plantations. The objectives of this study are 1) to describe the replanting steps of coconut plantations in Panca Tunggal Village, Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency; 2) to analyze the socio-economic factors that encourage and inhibit the replanting of oil palm plantations in Panca Tunggal Village, Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency; 3) to describe the income of farmers who do replanting and do not do replanting oil palm plantations in Panca Tunggal Village Sungai Sungai District Musi Banyuasin Regency. 4) to analyze a comparison of the benefits of oil palm farming for farmers who do and do not do replanting oil palm plantations. The study was conducted in Panca Tunggal Village, Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. This research was conducted in July 2019. The used research method was a survey method, the used sampling method was disproportioned stratified random sampling with 20 samples that did replanting and 10 samples that did not do replanting oil palm plantations. After analysis, it can be concluded that 1) replanting system consists of land preparation, planting , maintenance and financing; 2) age, land area and ownership income have a significant effect; 3) Income for replanting consists of oil palm farmers, rubber farmers, casual laborers, and traders, while farmers who do not do replanting consist of rubber farmers and traders; 4) the results of the comparison are both financially feasible, but seen from the potential curve of oil palm production it is better to do replanting than not replanting.
