Abstract

The problems examined in this research is the social economic status and the environment of peers that affect the interests of students to continue their studies to universities in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya. This research aims to prove the influence of social and economic status and peers' environment on the interest in continuing their studies to tertiary institutions in class XII IPS students in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya. The method used is quantitative descriptive. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of this resesrch indicate that in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya: 1) there is an influence of social conomic status on the interest in continuing studies to tertiary institutions in class XII IPS students in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya with a contribution of 50.8%. (2) there is an influence of peer environment on the interest in continuing study to tertiary institutions in class XII IPS students in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya with a contribution of 58.5%. (3) the influence of the social economic and environmental status of peers on the interest in continuing their studies to tertiary institutions in class XII IPS students in MA Al Ittifaqiah Indralaya with the contribution of social eonomic and environmental status of peers to the interest in continuing to study in college by 42.9% . It is recommended for students to increase their interest and attention to study at tertiary institutions regardless of the social economic status of their parents and increase interaction with their peers to get more information about tertiary institutions that are in accordance with their interests and talents.
