Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 25 TalangBalai on Natural Sciences (IPA) subjects using inquiry learning models. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2015/2016 school year. The research method used was classroom action research (CAR) with 3 action cycles. Each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques used are tests and observations. The results showed that the use of inquiry learning models can improve learning outcomes in science learning. This can be seen from the completeness of student learning in the first cycle with the percentage of classical completeness of 63.33%. In the second cycle the percentage of students 'mastery learning 79.41% and in the third cycle, students' mastery learning increased 88.57%. The results of observations of student activity has increased, this can be seen in the first cycle of the first meeting with a percentage of 41.18% quite active category, the second meeting of 53.34% active category. Cycle II, the first meeting was 54.28% active category, the second meeting was 44.11%, the category was very active. In cycle III with a percentage of 42.85% the category is very active, the second meeting is 51.42%. Judging from the results of observations of student activity there is an increase in the percentage of the categories quite active, active, and very active. The results of the study can be concluded that the Inquiry Learning Model could improve student learning outcomesof the fifth grade students of Muhammadiyah 25 Talang Balai Elementary School.
