Abstract

The degistive system of ruminant animals is able to synthesize protein, therefore feed with protein sources for ruminants is not very crucial. Sources of protein for ruminants can be obtained from fees and synthesis in the rumen. This happens because in the rumen fermentation process occurs which produces Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) and N-Ammonia (N-NH3). The purpose of this study was to study the effect of Indigofera zollingeriana pellets enriched with BSF maggot flour on the concentration of N-NH3 and Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) in vitro. This research was carried out in September to December 2019 in the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and food, Departmen of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industri Departmen of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The variables observed in this study were the concentration of N-NH3 and VFA of Indigofera zollingeriana pellets enriched with BSF maggot flour in vitro technique. The data obtained were analyzed using the statistical analysis method T Test. The results showed the treatment of Indigofera zollingeriana 70% + Bran 28% + Premix 1% + maggot BSF 1% able to increase the concentration of N_NH3 13,06 mM to 13,73 mM and an increase in VFA 93,22 mM to 96.69 mM.
