Abstract

This research examines about “the economic contribution of women the milled fish seller to the family” (study in the 15 Ulu Market 15 Ulu Village Jakabaring District of Palembang)”. The problem of this research is the economic contributions of women of the milled fish seller to the family and the obstacles they experienced. The theory used is James Coleman’s Theory of rational choice. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, where the data collection is generally qualitative and presented in a descriptive manner. In determining the informant using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The source of the data used is primary data obtained from the research location, in the form of interviews with research informants, which is further supported by secondary data related to the economic contribution of women the milled fish seller. The result of this research show that the economic contributions of women the milled fish seller arevery influential to their families because they are considered able to participate in advancing the welfare of the family. Female fish seller make economic contributions due to the number of needs that eant to be met, not only that this woman contributed to help the husband in dealing with the financial problem of the family, expecially her husband who went to wandering, the women who have single parents have to make money for themselves to fulfill the needs of his children. In his contribution, the woman experiences obstacles from both internal and external obstacles.
