Abstract

ABSTRACT Wulansari, Nova Indah “Planning and Design of Simple Flats Rental with Commercial Facility in Palembang” Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Sriwijaya University Indralaya Campus, Palembang-Prabumulih St. KM. 32, Indralaya-Ogan Ilir. Novawulan76@gmail.com Palembang city is the center of all activities of good economic, trade, services and industry as well as an interland center of South Sumatra region. Palembang city can play a direct role in the international sphere. Recently the government has done a lot of improvements and optimizing the locations that cause problems that start to concern. This is directly related to the government's own plan in improving the city of Palembang to a better direction.Currently, the phenomenon of the existence of traditional markets KM 5 in Palembang has become the center of community activity in trading in this area has made the flow of activity density to increase. However, the density and irregularities inside and outside the market building have caused quite complex problems. The ownership status of this traditional market by the government causes difficulties in optimizing the market functionally. In addition, the location of this market place is also less likely to be carried out development ini.Diwali with the potential of the environment and encouragement from the private sector who want to improve the economic value of the area has led to the location of the site next to the market KM 5 which is perceived to have its own opportunities. Also supported by existing facilities such as the Provincial General Hospital (RSUP), Eye Special Hospital (RSKM) and the main road which is wide enough to make this location possible for development. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new commercial functions that can increase the economic value of the strategic site, support and be able to synergize with the traditional markets of KM 5.
