Abstract

Batuan metamorf Formasi Tarap merupakan batuan berumur Karbon-Permian yang berasal dari lempeng kontinental West Sumatra Block. Tersingkapnya Formasi Tarap merupakan hasil kolisi antara Woyla Intra-Oceanic Island Arc dengan blok kontinental West Sumatra Block pada daerah Perbukitan Garba yang terjadi saat Mesozoikum. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi sebaran batuan metamorf, karakteristik, dan tipe protolith untuk mengetahui fasies metamorfisme yang dikaitkan dengan rekonstruksi tatanan tektonik di daerah penelitian. Metode yang digunakan berupa pemetaan geologi dengan pengambila sampel in situ maupun floating sample. Selain itu dilakukan analisis 15 sampel petrografi. Batuan metamorf yang ditemukan di daerah penelitian yaitu filit klorit, filit muskovit-biotit, filit muskovit, filit grafit, sekis aktinolit, sekis hornblend, dan ortho-amfibolit. Selain itu, pada batuan juga ditemukan struktur boudine akibat gaya ekstensional. Protolith batuan yang ditemukan berupa batuan pelitik, granitoid, dan batuan mafik. Berdasarkan data tersebut didapat fasies metamorfisme di daerah penelitian yaitu Fasies Seri Barovian dengan derajat menengah yaitu Fasies Sekis Hijau, Fasies Epidot-Amfibolit, dan Fasies Amfibolit. Keterbentukan Fasies Amfibolit terjadi pada suhu tertinggi yaitu 600°C yang terbentuk saat subduksi Samudera Paleo-Tethys dengan West Sumatra Block pada Permian Awal. Kemudian aktivitas magmatik mempengaruhi dan menyebabkan terbentuknya Fasies Epidot—Amfibolit. Proses orogeni berupa kolisi antara West Sumatra Block dengan East Sumatra Block kemudian membentuk Fasies Sekis Hijau dengan batuan asal pelitik yang terjadi pada suhu terendah 200°C. Kata kunci: Komplek Garba, Paleozoikum, fasies metamorf, petrografi, batuan metamorf The metamorphic rocks of the Tarap Formation are a Carbon-Permian age rocks originated from the West Sumatra Block continental plate. The exposure of the Tarap Formation is the result of a collision between the Woyla Intra-Oceanic Island Arc and the West Sumatra Block as the continental block in the Garba Mountains that occurred during the Mesozoic. The study was conducted to identify the distribution of metamorphic rocks, characteristics, and types of protoliths to determine the metamorphic facies associated with the reconstruction of the tectonic setting in the study area. The method used in the form of geological mapping with in situ and float samplings. Besides, the analysis of 15 petrographic samples was conducted. Metamorphic rocks found in the study area are chlorite-phyllite, muscovite-biotite phyllite, muscovite-phyllite, graphite phyllite, actinolite schist, hornblende schist, and ortho-amphibolite. Also, the boudinage structure was also found due to extensional forces. Protolith rock found in the form of pelitic rock, felsic rock, and mafic rocks. Based on these data, metamorphic facies were obtained in the study area as medium-sized Barrovian Facies, namely the Greenschist Facies, Epidote-Amphibolite Facies, and Amphibolite Facies. The formation of Amphibolite Facies occurs at the highest temperature of 600°C that were formed during the subduction of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean with West Sumatra Block in the Early Permian. Then magmatic activity influenced and caused the formation of Epidote-Amphibolite Facies. The orogenic process in the form of a collision between West Sumatra Block and East Sumatra Block then forms the Greenschist Facies with rock originated at the temperature of 200 °C.
