Abstract

The administration of the Ogan Komering Ulu Regency is divided into 13 subdistricts consisting of 14 Sub-districts and 143 villages with the regency capital, Baturaja, which is located in East Baturaja District. The river that was the object of observation in this project is the Ogan River located in Semidang Aji District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra Province. There are three river cross sections measured which are located in three different villages. Each section is located in Ulak Pandan village (Section-1) as upstream, Keban Agung village (Section-2) as the middle, and Tubohan village (Section-3) as downstream. The distance from Section-1 to Section-2 is around 523 m, while the distance from Section-1 to Section-3 is around 1,569 m. The total length of the observed river segment is around 2,092 m (2 km). Each river has different characteristics and shapes from one another, this is caused by many factors including topography, climate, and all natural phenomena in the process of formation. In water construction or water construction requires good hydrometric data and parameters used for its design. The purpose of this research is to analyze the flow velocity distribution for each cross section and to make a velocity contour modeling with the application of Surfer 17. Flow characteristics that occur in both straight and bend flow from the influence of river flow velocity. Maximum flow velocity, minimum and average velocity in one month observations were carried out in section-2 respectively 1.541 m / s, 0.206 m/s and 0.25 m/s. So for flow in sections-1, -2, and -3 categorized the flow characteristics are Subcritical from Froude calculation and Turbulent from Reynolds calculation.
