Abstract

This study aims to determine the performance of the Tray Type Drying Machine on a variety of forage. This research uses the method This research method uses descriptive data and presentation in the form of tables and graphs. The data analysis technique used in this study is a quantitative data analysis technique with descriptive statistics, the data obtained is tabulated in tabular form and interpreted through graphs which will then be a reference in making a description of the performance test of the machine. The parameters in this study are the water content, drying rate, effective capacity of the equipment and power requirements. The results showed that drying time and drying temperature significantly affected the final water content of forage feed samples, effective capacity of the equipment, drying rate and power requirements. The highest end of drying water content is odot grass at 60 ° C with a span of 3 hours drying producing an average moisture content of 53%. The lowest final moisture content was found in Chinese Petai leaves with a temperature of 70 ° with a drying time of 5 hours with a final moisture content of 5%. The lowest effective drying capacity value of the tool was found in the forage species of elephant grass which was 0.089 kg / hour (drying temperature 70 ° C and drying time 5 hours) while the highest forage drying material capacity was found on the leaves of petai cina grass with a yield capacity of 0.27 kg / hour (drying temperature is 60 ° C and drying time is 3 hours). Power consumption during testing with a gradual temperature for 5 hours is 6.21 kWh.
