Abstract

The research location is in Sinjar Bulan Village which is the most extensive area in Gumai Ulu sub-district, Lahat regency, South Sumatra Province. Geographically it has coordinates 3º 53 '15.8 "LS - 103º 22' 40.2" BT and 3º 55 '57.47 "LS - E 103º 22 '39.90 "East. The geomorphological unit of the research area consists of sloping hills (PLL), denudational high hills (PTD) and steep slope mountains (PLC) with developing river types namely dendritic and parallel types. The unit observed in the study area was the batuserpih unit with carbonate properties and clay rock from the Gumai Formation and was deposited unconformably above it the Volcanic Breccia Unit with tuff lithology. The dominant direction alignment pattern was observed trending NW-SE with the geological structure that developed in the study area, namely horizontal strike slip fault. Petrographic observations on shale samples show the classification in the form of feldspatic-greywacke - lithic greywacke
