Abstract

This study aimed to find out the level of income gap between districts / cities and the influenceofthenumberofpoorpeopleandHumanDevelopmentIndex(HDI)onthelevelof incomegapinthedistricts/citiesthatoccurredinSouthSumatraProvince.Thisstudyused paneldataregressionmethod withCommonEffectModel.Thesamplesusedinthisstudy were17districts/citiesinSouthSumatraProvincefortheperiodof2011-2018.Theresults ofthestudyshowedthatthelevelofincomegapbetweendistricts/citiesinSouthSumatra Provincefrom2011to2018wasstillinthelowcategory.Thenumberofpoorpeoplehada positive relationship but no significant effect on the level of income gap. Meanwhile, the HumanDevelopmentIndexhadapositiverelationshipandasignificanteffectonthelevelof incomegapbetweendistricts/citiesinSouthSumatraProvincefrom2011to2018.
