Abstract

Background : HIV / AIDS is a life-threatening infectious disease so that it has become a serious concern. Without treatment, HIV can gradually destroy the immune system and cause AIDS. Patient compliance with ARV drugs is very important to consider before starting treatment. Forgetting to take ARV drugs once or twice a week can cause the goals of the drug to fail, especially at the beginning of treatment. The use of ARV drugs requires a high level of adherence to get therapeutic success and prevent resistance. To get the suppression response to the amount of virus by 85% required compliance with the use of drugs 90-95%. The purpose of this study was to determine several factors that influence the Anti Retroviral Disability (ARV) in People with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) in Palembang, Method : This research was an observational study which using a quantitative approach with a cross sectional study design on februari until maret 2020. Data samples of 235 People with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) in Palembang were chosen by purposive sampling. Results: The results showed that the proportion of adherence ARV of PLHIV in Palembang was 83%. The reseach found three risk factors that affected the HIV and AIDS patients adherence to ARV; gender(p-value =0,047; OR=4,599; 95%CI=1,062-19,909), Marital status (p-value=0,028; OR=2,553; 95%CI=1,153-5,650) and drug side effects (p-value =0,019; OR = 9,17; 95% CI = 0.015-0.823). Other factors like long time ARV therapy (p-value =1,000; OR=1,037; 95%CI=0,494-2,177), access to ARV (p-value =0,693; OR=1,264; 95%CI=0,586-2,730), HIV negative stigma (p-value =0,690; OR=1,446; 95%CI=0,477-4,389),family support (p-value =0,340; OR=1,543; 95%CI=0,727-3,275) and knowledge about ARV (p-value =0,384; OR=1,438; 95%CI=0,727-2,844) did not have significant affects.
