Abstract

Macrosomia is a baby born with a weight greater than 4 kg. Macrosomia is an important cause of both maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. Mothers have a 25% chance of having postpartum hemorrhage, and tear perineum, as well as maternal tissue trauma. Infant macrosomia at risk of asphyxia, also experienced trauma to the collarbone and collarbone fracture during labor. In addition, infant macrosomia can add 10% of infant mortality in the world. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of macrosomia in Indonesian. This study uses cross-sectional research design. The data used are secondary data of Indonesian Family Life Survey 2014 with a population of 12.534 people and a sample of 4770 respondents in Indonesian. Data analysis was done by univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using complex sample multiple logistic regression prediction model. The results showed that the variables associated with the incidence of macrosomia in Indonesia are parity (pvalue = <0,0001), gestational age (p-value = <0,0001), visit of ANC (p-value = 0,003), and obesity (p-value = <0,0001). The most dominant variable of macrosomia occurrence is gestational age with PR value is 2,880 (95% CI = 2,114-3,924). Gestational age is the most significant factor in macrosomia occurrence after being controlled by parity variables, ANC visits, and obesity. Pregnant women should ANC visits regularly so that they can receive examinations and information about their pregnancy problems.
