Abstract

The ever-increasing traffic volume can have an effect on the increase in the load received by the road pavement structure. Excessive traffic loads can cause damage to the road layer, resulting in reduced comfort for vehicle users when crossing the road. In addition, road pavement damage can also be caused by tropical climates which can cause deformation and cracks in the pavement layer. The pavement currently commonly used in South Sumatra is Flexible Pavement. The asphalt concrete layer used as the Laston Binder Course (AC-BC) binder layer is included in the flexible pavement which is used to withstand the maximum load due to traffic loads. In an effort to increase the strength of the structure on the road pavement by using economical costs, one of the innovations we have made for Asphalt Concrete - Binder Course (AC-BC) on road pavement is by utilizing coal combustion waste which is expected to produce a better quality pavement. optimal. Laston Binder Course (AC BC) uses a filler in the form of fly ash waste which is ash from coal combustion in the form of fine particles and passes through sieve no. 200. Apart from fly ash, coal burning also produces bottom ash which is stuck in the filter no. 50 and used as fine aggregate on this laston AC BC. It is hoped that the use of fly ash waste as a filler and bottom ash as fine aggregate in the asphalt mixture can meet the stability value, flow value, marshall quotient (MQ) value, Void in Mixture (VIM) value, Void in mineral aggregate (VMA) value, the value of Void Filled with Bitument (VFB), as well as the value of Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) which is good and meets the requirements of Bina Marga specifications.
