Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency of the melting process and the amount of power required in a magnetic induction furnace with four different mass variables in aluminum metal smelting to reach a temperature of 750oC. The magnetic induction furnace itself is the result of the author's design with a maximum temperature of 1000oC and a maximum capacity of 500 grams of kowi. The method used in this study is to calculate the temperature difference in each component of the induction furnace including kowi, furnace cover, cross-section iron and refractory insulation. Then identify the amount of heat lost and needed at each melting then analyze the efficiency and power. As a result, the conclusion is that the efficiency and power of the magnetic induction furnace are directly proportional to the mass of aluminum metal.
