Abstract

This study aims to (1) Analyze what factors that influence the production of organic robusta coffee farms in Sumber Karya Village, Lahat Regency, (2) to know what are the barriers that existi in farming activity (3) To frame the development strategies that can be done in organic robusta coffe farming. This research was conducted in Sumber Karya Village, Gumay Ulu District, Lahat Regency. The time of data collection is from March to April 2020. The research method used is the survey method. The sampling method used is the census method with the number of respondents are 25 farmers. The data used consist of primary and secondary data.The results of this research showed that: (1) Factors that have significant effect on the production of organic robusta coffee farming are land area, capital, number of plants and the number of organic pesticides. And factors that have no significant effect, are the amount of organic fertilizer, labour and the number of seeds. (2)Barriers that exist in this organic robusta coffee farming are the factor of farmers lacking capital, a complicated process of farming activities, weather factors, lack of farmers’s knowledge about new technologies, lake of motivation among farmers and reduced of farmers' cohesiveness, (3) Priority development strategies that can be used for the development of organic robusta coffee farming is the SO (Strengths-Opportunities) trategies that consist of several strategies, which are: Increasing the production of organic robusta coffee by utilizing suitable land conditions, higher prices and good quality of human resources to improve the welfare of farmers and uphold the quality of coffee products in order to increase consumer interest and demand.
