Abstract

One of the plants that has the potential to reduce uric acid levels is jengkol fruit skin (Archidendron jiringa). Jengkol rind contains chemical compounds in the form of flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids which have potential as antihyperurisemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of jengkol rind ethanol extract in reducing uric acid levels in white male wistar rats induced by chicken liver juice and potassium oxonate. Test animals were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control, positive control, and the ethanol extract jengkol rind test group at a dose of 250, 500, 750 mg / kgBB. Induction of chicken liver juice is carried out for all for 7 days, then treated for 7 days by giving ethanol extract of jengkol rind and measuring uric acid levels.Uric acid levels were measured using enzymatic colorimetric methods using uric acid reagents containing phosphate buffer pH 7, uricase enzymes, peroxidase enzymes, 4-aminoantipirin, and 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid (DBHS). Characteristics of ethanol extract of jengkol rind based on water content testing parameters obtained results of 7.00 ± 1.00%, drying shrinkage 7.54 ± 1.16%, water soluble extracts 36.67 ± 2.89%, ethanol soluble extract levels 76.67 ± 7.64%, total ash content6.19 ± 0.58%, and acid insoluble ash content 0.58 ± 0.01%. The results of studies on test animals showed a significant decrease in uric acid levels (<0.05) from each dose.The higher the dose of jengkol rind ethanol extract, the higher the decrease in uric acid levels in the body of the test animal.ED50 value of jengkol rind ethanol extract to reduce uric acid levels that is equal to 518.26 mg / kgBB.
