Abstract

Behavior of people in Kelurahan 7 Ulu Kota Palembang who do not have latrine is low socioeconomic and limited land and lack of willingness, to have their own latrines because they feel that their neighborhood is their own family and there are attitudes and actions that lead to community life habits who always poops randomly everywhere. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to latrine use behavior. This type of research used quantitative analytic with cross sectional approach with a sample size of 79 respondents taken by simple random sampling.Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate analysis. The result is showed there was a relationship between education (p value = 0,039), availability of latrines (p value = 0,031), knowledge (p value = 0,015), the role of health workers (p value = 0,006), support from community leaders (p value = 0,021) with latrine use behavior and there was no relationship between age (p value = 1,000), attitude (p value = 0,488) and water availability (p value = 0,738) with latrine use behavior. Education, availability of latrine, knowledge, the role of health workers and the support of community leaders have a relationship to latrine use behavior, so it is hoped that the community will increase their knowledge about the use of healthy latrines, by following regular counseling from health workers.
