Abstract

Regional water service, i.e. PDAM, needs a monitoring system for water treatment and distribution installations. Such monitoring aims to know error occured in the system, error in sensor reading, and working pumps. In PDAMs, monitoring is usually based on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). However, SCADA is still expensive so some PDAMs do not utilize SCADA system. Instead, they monitor system for the water treatment and distribution manually. Therefore, another alternative and affordable method is needed such as ATMega and Visual Basic. Nevertheless, it has drawback because of controlling water flow using ultrasonic sensors. To overcome such problems, this study proposes to utilize Delphie software simulation using a flow sensor to monitor the water distribution system. This method may monitor the output of the water discharge, show the evaluation results of the percentage of the water flow that comes out of as the clean water treatment by reading the output values displayed on the graph in the Delphi program window. These readings are accordingly with data mechanism in the field (mechanics / tools) and this system can send the real time data with serial print communication. If there is a serious disturbance when the water flow value is less than 30 mililiter/second, a warning in the form of red that can be seen on the graph connected to the database system as a data record (memory) through Ms. Access. Such data can be evaluated so that the distribution of water does not suffer losses.
