Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of a single organ performance at a wedding in Indralaya Mulya Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the background of the community choosing a single organ at a wedding and to find out the meaning of a single organ performance at a wedding for the community of Indralaya Mulya Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Observations, interviews and documentation are data collection techniques used by researchers. This study uses analytical tools namely the phenomenological theory of Alfred Schutz. The results of this study indicate that the background to the community choosing a single organ at a wedding with several reasons ranging from, cheap single organ rental rates, material benefits from single organ entertainment, single organ is a practical musical entertainment. The results of this study also show that there are several meanings of the performance of a single organ at a wedding according to the community, namely that a single organ at a wedding is prestige and a single organ is entertainment for fun.
