Abstract

Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) is a fish that has high economic value which can develop the capture fisheries industry. The problem commonly faced by fishermen is the lack of information regarding the right fishing season, which causes fishermen to experience uncertainty about fishing time. The fishing season pattern can be used to determine the right time to carry out fishing operations. The purpose of this study was to analyze the pattern of the fishing season for fin tuna landed at Bungus OFP, West Sumatera. This research was conducted on 28 February - 6 March 2020 at Bungus OFP, West Sumatera. The analysis used in this study is the moving average analysis to determine the pattern of the fishing season for yellowfin tuna using time series data on the amount of production and monthly fishing effort per type of fishing gear during the 5-year period (2014-2018). The results of this study indicate that the peak season for yellowfin tuna landed at Bungus OFP, West Sumatera occurs in February-May and October-November, with the highest peak season occurring in November. The season is in January, June-September and December.
