Abstract
Abstract: Mangrove ecosystem in the waters of the canal in Sembilang National Park Banyuasin as a transitional ecosystem between the sea and the land has a gradient nature of the environment that are very sharp. Plankton is one of the important components in aquatic ecosystems. Therefore it is necessary to do research on plankton diversity and its relationship with the quality of the canal waters Sembilang National Park Banyuasin in South Sumatra. This research was conducted by sampling by determining the station by selecting the area that represent the location of the study. This was done to get an overview of data that represent the condition of these waters. Observations at each station performed with 3 repetitions. After all observation points are set, conducted sampling and measurement parameters required, both the parameters of physics, chemistry and biology. Plankton evenness index in April 2012 ranged from 0.242 to 0.648 ind/L, whereas in June 2012 ranged from 0.35 to 3.422 ind/L. Plankton dominance index in April 2012 ranged from 0.00059 to 1.2228 ind/L, whereas in June 2012 ranged from 0.00118 to 0.70298 ind/L.
