Abstract

PT Freeport Indonesia is one of the largest gold and copper mining companies in Indonesia, located in Mimika Regency, Papua Province. One of the underground mines of PT Freeport Indonesia, Big Gossan, uses the Open Stoping with Paste Backfill method. Each hole that forms makes the stability of the rock mass disturbed, therefore it is necessary to implement a good buffer system. Based on the research conducted, it is known that the Q value is 2.6 so that it is included in the poor or bad rock mass category. The recommendation for the support system is based on the Q graph using systematic bolting in the form of a split set and reinforced by shocrete with a thickness of 5-6 cm. Based on the calculation, it is found that the depth of failure is 0.92 meters. To achieve the safety factor 2 stipulated by the Ministerial Decree of ESDM Number 1827 K/30/MEM/2018, a split set with a length of 2.4 meters with a capacity of 9 tons was installed with a space of 1.23 meters. Meanwhile, spraying shocrete with a thickness of 6 cm must meet a compressive strength of 24.65 MPa. Because there are 3 joint sets, it can cause wedging potential. After being analyzed using Unwedge software, the wedge on the roof, floor, and left wall was not significant. While the wedge on the right wall weighs 4.3 tons after being calculated to produce a safety factor is 10. After being plotted on the RMR graph, the stand-up time value is 572 hours and the maximum unsupported roof span is 13.6 meters. Monitoring needs to be done by convergence monitoring.
