Abstract

Introduction: the proportion of pre-elderly and elderly population is increasing along with the increasing life expectancy in Indonesia. As we get older, the elderly tend to be more susceptible to infectious and chronic diseases due to decreased anatomical and physiological functions in the body. Thus, the Government seeks to realize the concept of healthy and quality elderly through Posyandu Lansia. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the utilization of Posyandu Lansia in Indonesia. Method: the analysis of this study uses data from the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Survey. The theory used is the Andersen health service utilization model. This study used a cross sectional study design with sampling using multistage random sampling to obtain a sample of 4,366 individuals aged ≥45 years. The method of analysis of this study used univariate, bivariate analysis, with chi-square and multivariate tests using a multiple logistic regression test of the prediction model. Result: this study found that respondents who used Posyandu Lansia amounted to 221 (5.1%). Age ≥ 60 years, female sex, secondary education, not working, nutritional status of obesity, fat and thin, acute morbidity, as well as a history of chronic disease have a significant relationship to the use of Posyandu Lansia in Indonesia (p-value≤0.005). Predictors for the use of Posyandu Lansia dominant in influencing the sex of women obtained PR value of 2.995 (95% CI: 2.398-3.741) after being controlled by other variables. Conclusion: female gender greatly influences the utilization of Posyandu Lansia, it is expected that the organizer of Posyandu Lansia can put Posyandu in a strategic position and hold Posyandu Lansia not on elderly hours and working days, and empower cadres to be able to make efforts to promote target groups to actively utilize the Posyandu Lansia.
