Abstract

Riskesdas in 2018 stated that the incidence of anemia is still high in adolescent girls, based on the author's search for adolescent girls at SMPN 1 Indralaya Utara around 80% didn’t know about anemia. This needs to be followed up with health education as accordance as the current trend of adolescents who like watching videos. This research aims to determine the influence of video media on adolescent girls’ knowledege about anemia at SMPN 1 Indralaya Utara. The design of this research was pre-experimental without a control group with a One Group Pretest - posttest design. The population of this research was all the adolescent girls in the 9th grade at SMPN 1 Indralaya Utara with a total of 19 respondents who were taken by probability sampling with cluster sampling technique. The research data was taken before and after the intervention using a questionnaire which was statistically tested by using the Paired Sample T Test, the intervention was carried out in the form of health education with video media. The results showed that the average value before intervention was 6.8; after the intervention was an average of 17.3. The results of statistical tests showed that there were differences in the knowledge value of adolescent girls about anemia (p value = 0.000; p <0.05). Based on the results of this research, it is important to provide health education about anemia to adolescent girls, especially those who have experienced menstruation, so that they can prevent and take steps correctly and healthy in overcoming anemia if it occurs. Health education can be applied by using counseling as usual with leaflets and posters. Video media is the one of media that can be used in delivering health education.
