Abstract

The occurrence of flash floods in the Saka River (part of the Komering Ulu Sub-Watershed) on May 8, 2020, which struck Muara Dua District with a population density of 177.47 people/km2, is suspected due to an increase in rainfall and land cover changes in upstream. The result is an increase in streamflow to the river's inability to receive a response. Based on this incident, this study will examine the hydraulic parameters in the Komering Ulu Sub Watershed which has direct implications for flood potential. The parameters are: 1) the intensity of rainfall; 2) runoff coefficient; 3) estimated streamflow plan. Analysis of maximum rainfall is based on Rain Station Batumarta and Station Menangasari, so statistical approach is needed through the Mononobe-Sherman equation which plays a role in testing the accuracy of the data with the smallest deviation. While the runoff coefficient optimizes big data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Then the analysis applies the Hassing method and Rational method using HEC-RAS software. The results of the study through comparison of maximum daily rainfall data in 2011-2019 showed a surge in rainfall intensity from 64.56 mm/hour to 337.89 mm/hour. Also, there are variations in lithology that affect runoff coefficient values. These factors cause the streamflow plan to increase by 12.8% with a return period of five and ten years, which means it can provide peak discharge simulation. Thus, this model is used as a preventive effort and reduces negative impacts around the study area.
