Abstract

The aim of the research was to evaluate the growth of agava (Agave sisalana Perrine) seedling on different plant medium composition. Research was conducted from October 2016 to February 2017 in a greenhouse. Analysis chlorophyll was conducted in Plant physiology laboratory of Agronomy Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Research was Randomized Blok Design (RBD) with seven treatments and five replications. The treatments were Mo= Soil, M1= Soil: Sand, M2= Soil: Compost, M3= Soil: Rice husk charcoal, = Soil: Sand: Compost, Ms= Soil: Sand: Rice husk charcoal, and= Soil: Compost: Rice husk charcoal. The observed variables were leaf length, number of leaves, leaf width, crop weight, root length, number of roots, and total chlorophyll. The results showed that plant medium of Soil: Sand: Rice husk charcoal (Ms) provided an optimal effect on growth of Agava It was indicated by number of leaves crop (4,53), crop weight (9,59 g), root length (29.09 cm), and number of roots (11.60).
